Training Courses

You can use our online booking form for Core Domestic and Commercial courses. Click here to check availability and reserve your place.

We offer revision training prior to assessment. We base the duration of revision training on experienced candidates who are prepared and able to apply themselves to the assessment process.

Additional time for revision training is available and will be charged at the daily rate. Revision training is your opportunity to update your knowledge on changes to legislation. Undergoing revision training does not guarantee success, but it does give you an idea of what to expect in the assessments.

Introduction

We are able to offer a wide range of ACS assessments including initial core assessment, core re-assessment, appliance assessments and a range of changeover assessment from natural gas to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

ACS Initial Assessment

Operatives in the domestic gas industry who have not previously undertaken assessment for Corgi registration undertake this course.

The main part of the course covers CCNI — Core Gas Safety and should take two days to complete. One day is used to complete the three ‘open book’ theory papers, and the other day is used to assess the operative’s practical capabilities.

Operatives new to the industry, or those with little or no gas experience or training are not suitable for the initial assessment.

When the core elements have been successfully completed, the operative may ‘add on’ the appliances he requires registration for. These are Boilers, Cookers, Heaters (Gas Fires) and Water Heaters (Single point and Multipoints). Each appliance takes approximately four hours to complete the theory and practical assessments assigned.

ACS Reassessment

Operatives who are renewing their qualifications have the choice to undertake an initial assessment or a reassessment, which is a shorter version and should only take one day to complete CCNI. The additional appliances take approximately two hours each to complete.

LPG Conversion

Operatives holding relevant qualifications for Natural Gas can upgrade to cover Propane and Butane installations as well. Separate assessments are applied to cover Permanent Dwellings, Leisure Associated Vehicles, Residential Park Homes and Boats.

Refresher training is available for all the above disciplines.
